Lombard Christian Reformed Church has been at its current location in Lombard for almost 50 years and traces its roots to 1912 in Chicago. The church is in a quiet suburban community with easy access to the amenities of a big city. We are a community of believers who follow Jesus and strive to live out his will. Lombard Christian Reformed Church is excitedly seeking to call a Pastor of Intergenerational Life. The newly created position will report to the Lead Pastor, accountable to the Elders, and will be tasked with transforming our church ministries to become a church of intergenerational ministry and create connections with Christ through embracing faith, encouraging community, and engaging service. The new Pastor will be the catalyst behind successfully connecting the younger generations to the rest of the church. We believe the most effective way to serve our church community is by providing intergenerational opportunities to connect, serve, worship, learn, and be spiritually mentored. An ideal candidate would have an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for people and ministry.

Job Specifics
  • The Director of Youth Ministry should plan on continuing education courses/events throughout the year; specific goals will be set each year with the Youth Ministry Support Team
  • Get to know the congregation and learn members’ spiritual gifts and interests in order to create spaces where intergenerational connections can thrive and natural mentorships can thrive.
  • Re-imagine church ministries to meet the intergenerational vision of the church that follow the church’s mission of creating connections with Christ through embracing faith, encouraging community, and engaging service.
  • Coordinate and help all ministries focus on the new church vision and connect to young members and families.
  • Provide spaces for our young people to meet and connect in addition to getting them to connect with other generations.
  • Develop an intergenerational connection for our youth with adult members of our congregation through serve projects, learning spaces, mentor relationships, and shared events.
  • Preach 25% of the services at Lombard CRC with the possibility for more preaching when the Lead Pastor retires.
  • Regularly assess what is working and what isn’t working for our youth and our ministries and adjust as necessary as the candidate will have freedom to lead this transformation process. 


Qualification Requirements

We are seeking an ordained Pastor or a candidate for ordination in the CRCNA that has passion for ministries, intergenerational connection, and building a church community based on God’s Word.


Desired Outcomes

All ministries serve intergenerational connections and have been re-imagined to center on young families and children.  The church’s young people and young adults experience 2-3 meaningful adult associations that last and are sustained over time.  Connections to neighbors and community are valued and prioritized through intergenerational serving with 50% of our congregation involved in 2+ ministries or outreach.
