Dear Brothers and Sisters of Lombard CRC,

We hope to resume in-person worship services on Sunday, October 4, Lord willing.

Here are the guidelines for in-person services:

Morning Worship

  1. We will have one service on Sunday at 9:45 am.
  2. One-half of the congregation will be seated in the sanctuary and one-half will be seated in the Fellowship Hall and watch the service on the big screen. The congregation will be divided by alphabet and the groups will switch back and forth from week to week as to where they will be worshiping. Please pay attention to the Announcements each week so that you will know which part of the building to worship in.
  3. There will be no printed Orders of Worship but a QR code will be provided to access it on your phone.
  4. There will be no nursery or Children’s Worship available. However, babies and young children are welcome and encouraged to come.  We will worship inter-generationally and welcome the little ones.  The Cry Room will be closed.
  5. There will be no coffee time, no refreshments after the service.

Before Coming to Worship

  1. Please do self-screening at home, including temperature checks and symptom checks. Please do not attend if you are not feeling well or have a fever or other symptoms.
  2. Bring a mask. Masks are required.  Church will have some available if you forget. If anyone has a qualified mask exemption under the ADA they should speak to Sara Kooima privately to learn about alternatives the church is able to offer.
  3. Water fountains will be unavailable. Feel free to bring a water bottle.

What will be different

  1. Hand sanitizer will be available.
  2. Families should aim to arrive at church together and sit together.
  3. Ushers will be seating you, but seating will skip rows, and family units will be seated at least 6 feet apart from each other.
  4. Ushers will dismiss people row by row at the end of the service. We ask that you exit directly to the parking lot – no congregating in the back of church.
  5. When you arrive and leave please practice social distancing.
  6. Hymnals and Bibles have been removed from the pews. You are encouraged to bring your own Bible.  The Order of Worship will be available via a QR code as we’ve done with the outdoor services.
  7. There will be limited music.
  8. If you are in the group assigned to the Fellowship Hall please enter directly into the Fellowship Hall via the north doors. Ushers will be available there, also.  You are also encouraged to park in the north parking lot on those Sundays.
  9. The fire doors between the sanctuary and the Fellowship Hall will be closed during the service so you should plan to remain in that part of the building to which you’ve been assigned.

Registration for services will be required so we know who is in the building in case contact tracing in required. It will also help us to know how many people are in the building and how to divide the groups between the sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. We are able to have about 65 people in each room and still maintain social distancing.

The services will be live-streamed.  There will continue to be an online service like we are currently having as well.

We all long to be back at worship. We long to greet friends we miss with handshakes and hugs. Please know that these worship changes are meant to be a way we can love one another and worship safely together for now.  As the situation continues to change we will adjust these guidelines using the wisdom and resources available to us.

In Christ,

The Lombard CRC Regathering Team

Guidelines for use of the Lombard CRC building

The elders have approved the use of the church building with the following guidelines, which are based on CDC and IDPH (IL Dept. of Public Health) guidelines and with the intention of acting out of love for our neighbors and being faithful to everyone in our congregation and community.

  1. Groups of 50 or less may use the building. In smaller rooms the number should not exceed 25% of capacity.
  2. Social distancing must be maintained. Please refrain from shaking hands, hugging and other physical contact.
  3. Masks must be worn in the building.
  4. Hand sanitizer will be available and its use is encouraged.
  5. The kitchen will be closed and will be considered off-limits.
  6. Singing is considered a very high-risk activity and should be avoided.
  7. Nursery/child care should be avoided.
  8. Groups should keep a list of the people attending their group in case contact tracing becomes necessary.

Please contact Sara in the Office to reserve a time and room for your group.

Guidelines may change at any time based on current developments and current CDC and IDPH guidelines.

Church Family,

The Regathering Team is looking forward to the church services we have planned for the upcoming weeks and months. Please know that all decisions are made with your health as top priority and exceed all CDC and Health Dept. guidelines. This team would like you to know that we seek God’s will in every decision made. We genuinely need your prayers as we continue to research safety standards and look at how churches across the country are operating at this time.

We love you all - Your Regathering Team
