Colorado Challenge Day 5

Posted by Lombard CRC, General on

Today we started out very early.  We left camp right around 6:30 am.  Everyone had gone to bed fairly early last night, so most of us got some good rest.  The rafting place was about an hour and a half a way, so it made for a tired van ride on both ends.

When we got to Noah's Ark, the rafting outfitters, we were informed that the water was a chilly 46 degrees, therefore a lot of us opted to rent wetsuits or other gear to keep warm.

We split up into 4 different rafts and were introduced to our rafting guides. The guides were great, they all did extremely well at reassuring those students that had some trepidation.

We were in the river for about 10 miles and even though it was wet and cold, it actually felt nice.  We had some exciting river action but everyone stayed in the boats and we all had a fantastic time.  It seems like this rafting day is a favorite for many on the trip.

On the way back to camp we stopped at McDonalds for ice cream.  We then had a few hours before dinner and chapel.  We had an extended time of worship tonight, it was a very powerful night.

Tonight is our groups turn to climb to the top of Soldier's Mountain and spend the night up on the mountain.  Everyone is excited even though there is a greater chance of rain at around 4am.  We are preparing to be wet in the morning but hoping for the best.

We will be heading up in about an hour.  Your prayers for a dry night are appreciated.
