The Women's Book Club will be meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at church from 7:30 - 9:00 pm. Refreshments begin at 7:15. Please join us each month or those that interest you. We welcome new members!

Our next meeting will be on Oct 14th at 7:30pm. The book "Shanghai Girls" by Lisa See will be discussed. This book is about May and Pearl, two educated sisters living in Shanghai in the mid 1930s who move to Los Angeles to start new lives.

September 9 The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows
    This book is a collection of war stories and letters jump from incident to incident - including the formation of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society while Guernsey was under German occupation during World War II.
October 14 Shanghai Girls by Lisa See
  May and Pearl, two well-educated sisters living in Shanghai in the mid-1930s, move to Los Angeles to start new lives.
November 11 Coal Black Horse by Robert Olmstead
  This civil war tale that tracks a 14 year old boy's search for his father on the battlefield at Gettysburg. On the road, he witnesses the horrors of war and his testimony to what he sees forms a powerful, redemptive narrative.
January 14 Blood Brothers by Elias Chacour
  The author blends his life story with historical research to reveal a little-known side of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the birth of modern Israel. He touches on controversial questions, while offering readers hope-filled insight into living at peace in the most volatile region of the world.
February 10 Loving Frank by Nancy Horan
  The book is about Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Cheney's love story. It is also a portrayal of an independent, educated woman at odds with the restrictions of the early 20th century.
March 10 Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult
  The book is about a family with a chronically ill child. The story is spiced with a blend of medicine, law and love, with events that threaten the entire family.
April 14 Run by Ann Patchett
  This book is about a widower, his struggle to raise his 3 sons and his influence in their lives. Each character is a study in the affection they have for each other, while exploring the effects of class and race.
May 12 The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls
  This is a memoir of a family that us deeply dysfunctional. It is a story of triumph against all odds, but also a moving tale of unconditional love in a family with profound flaws.
